Jewellery Valuations
Section I - Types of valuation

Same assessment, different purpose.

Insurance valuation

For new and existing insurance policies. States the cost to replace the piece new, retail, at today's market. From $145 per piece.

Estate valuation

For probate, estate distribution, and family division. States the fair market value in current condition - what it would achieve in a private sale or auction. From $145 per piece.

Sale valuation

For private sale, divorce or settlement, where both parties need an independent value. Fair-market-based with comparison evidence where available. From $145 per piece.

Pre-purchase opinion

An independent assessment of a stone or piece you are considering buying elsewhere. Confirms the certificate, the cut quality, and whether the price reflects the market. From $95 per piece.

Section II - What we do

How a valuation is built.

01

Inspect

Each piece goes under the loupe and on the balance. We measure stones, identify metals, note hallmarks, and assess condition.

02

Grade

Diamonds graded for cut, colour, clarity and carat. Coloured stones identified, measured and graded. Pearls checked for origin, lustre and surface.

03

Research

Current retail or fair-market pricing researched at the time of valuation. We use Australian retail comparables, GIA pricing data, and recent auction results.

04

Report

A signed, dated, formal written report with photographs, full description, and the stated valuation. Issued within 5-7 working days.

Section III - Credentials

Reports accepted by major insurers.

Our valuations are issued by qualified gemmologists who are members of the National Council of Jewellery Valuers (NCJV) - the recognised standard in Australia. Our reports are accepted by all major Australian insurers including QBE, Allianz, Chubb, IAG and AAMI.

David Hollanders is a qualified gemmologist and diamond grader, certified through GAA (Gemmological Association of Australia) and trained at the GIA.
